Reading news articles about AI can leave many of us somewhat bewildered. Will advances in AI provide solutions to a number of difficult problems such as earlier disease detection, personalised medicine and climate change? Or will increased reliance on AI result in even higher CO2 emissions, take away jobs, and reduce human creativity and innovation?
The CW AI SIG has organised an exciting debate so that we can explore these questions together. There is no black and white answer, no absolutes, and there will almost certainly be positives and negatives. Join us in what we expect to be a more nuanced debate than is common, about the opportunities, threats and trade-offs of moving into an AI-enabled society. We hope it will allow you to decide whether you agree with the motion that the positive impacts of AI will be outweighed by the negative impacts.
